About Hindu Kush
This one predates breeding programmes entirely. It came off the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan, where centuries of cold nights, hard sun and thin soil selected for a squat plant that armours itself in resin. That resin is the whole point: it is why the region has been hand pressing hash out of it for generations, and why the plant still frosts over in a tent. Western growers carried seed home along the Hippie Trail in the sixties and seventies, and it went on to sit underneath a huge number of indica hybrids, Master Kush included. Growing it is about as forgiving as cannabis gets. Compact, resilient, seven to nine weeks in flower, and outdoors it finishes late September into early October.
